Continued from last photo...
Although these 3 pictures are not the greatest, they are a happy reminder of the wild things most of us urban folks never get to see. Especially in a late November Chicago suburb!
Hopefully this snapping turtle will live a healthy long 50 + years old, and grow to a whopping 40 pounds or more. The largest snapper on record weighed 72 pounds!
Oh...snappers do NOT make good pets. Always put wildlife back in the wild. This fellow was so cute, and had tremendously sharp, strong claws. I was in love....but I did the right thing. Also, if you pick up critters like this w/o gloves...make sure you use hand sanitiser ASAP. I keep a big bottle in my car.

just 4 days old! it's so adorable. but with access to the viewing room so limited, there wasn't much time to set the camera up properly... pictures are mostly all bad.
