Building 69 Bites the Dust
picture sizes
Kodak buildings 65 and 69, formerly used for R&D, were imploded this morning. A big dusty mess ensued. A huge crowd was gathered to watch this, the fourth (I think) building to be imploded with dynamite in Kodak Park. This view from 1000 feet to the north was good, but the wind blew the dust right at us. People ran for their cars as the whiteout hit. The little buildings in the foreground, many businesses along Ridge Rd, are directly across the street from the destruction, and apparently empty semi-trailers were used to protect them from shrapnel and dust. I hope they survived intact.

See it big

Chocolate Picture Frames for a Wedding

My CEO asked me to make chocolate table settings for his daughter's wedding, with each frame representing a special moment or place to the bride and groom. Each frame and picture are 100% chocolate. This project was a blast, my personal favorites are the LLC truffle, Fenway Park (Sox), VT Brew Festival and Camel's Hump. Congrats!

Picture a day 100. Work for my final drawing project. Had to take a tiny collage and blow it up to 14 by 17 to work from. The next step will be to trim and tape the parts together, then put some graphite on the back. I'll then have a carbon paper I can trace the outline onto blank paper.

I was rather sick in the evening and didn't feel like doing anything so I drew a picture that ended up in a frame. I figure if it's my own art then it's okay to use it as a photo.

Giant picture frame in Blickling Park, Norfolk

The National Trust says of its Walking Festival A popular feature of this year’s festival has been the giant picture frames in the landscape at a number of Trust properties, including Blickling. Walkers have been using them to frame and photograph their groups and favourite views, posting them on the National Trust’s Facebook page.

The picture is a fish (a Queen of Naga) of 7,8 metters held by 15 American military men, simply impresive!

Baby Snapping Turtle ~ 3 of 3 photos
baby picture
Continued from last photo...

Although these 3 pictures are not the greatest, they are a happy reminder of the wild things most of us urban folks never get to see. Especially in a late November Chicago suburb!

Hopefully this snapping turtle will live a healthy long 50 + years old, and grow to a whopping 40 pounds or more. The largest snapper on record weighed 72 pounds!

Oh...snappers do NOT make good pets. Always put wildlife back in the wild. This fellow was so cute, and had tremendously sharp, strong claws. I was in love....but I did the right thing. Also, if you pick up critters like this w/o gloves...make sure you use hand sanitiser ASAP. I keep a big bottle in my car.

FINIS.
