Improved service brings citizen and state together, that is the message on the sign. 115 is the new single phone number for Germany's public authorities. People in germany who wish to apply for a new passport, fix a date for the marriage license bureau or register a new commercial enterprise all use the same telephone number: 115 – and that callers will immediately be put through to the correct contact at the required authority.

Bürger trifft Behörde.
Rund zehn Millionen Bundesbürger können seit Dienstag Behördenauskünfte über eine zentrale Rufnummer einholen: Unter 115 beantworten regionale Servicecenter ohne lange Wartezeiten Fragen zu Formularen, Öffnungszeiten oder Gebühren.
Die Nummer wurde zunächst in Berlin, Hamburg, Hessen, Teilen Nordrhein-Westfalens sowie im niedersächsischen Oldenburg freigeschaltet.
Die Servicecenter sind montags bis freitags von 08.00 bis 18.00 Uhr erreichbar. In dieser Zeit sollen drei von vier Anrufen innerhalb von 30 Sekunden angenommen werden.
