The Hansa 1500 is a medium sized saloon that was manufactured by the Bremen based auto-manufacturer Carl F. W. Borgward GmbH. The strikingly modern car first rolled off the production line on October 13 1949 and was replaced by the Borgward Isabella in 1954. It is claimed as the first all new model launched by the German auto industry after the war. Introduced nearly four years before the better remembered ’Ponton Mercedes’ the Hansa featured the then revolutionary three box form that subsequently became mainstream in Germany and across much of Europe.

Der Borgward Hansa 1500 ist ein Mittelklassewagen der Carl F. W. Borgward G. m. b. H. in Bremen-Sebaldsbrück. Er war die erste deutsche Pkw-Neukonstruktion nach dem Krieg, die am 13. Oktober 1949 erstmals vom Band lief. Der Hansa 1500 war vor allem der erste deutsche Serien-Pkw mit Pontonkarosserie und Blinkern statt den bis dahin üblichen Winkern als Fahrtrichtungsanzeiger.

The Rekord P II grew in size, if not in wheelbase, and received a totally new body that did away with wraparound windows. It was available in several body versions: 2-door and 4-door saloon, a 3-door estate ("Caravan") plus delivery van, a pick-up, and a convertible. From August 1961 on, a works coupé became available, and in June 1962 a more luxurious "L" version was added with a new top engine of 1700 cc "S" and a higher compression ratio. The latest versions had an optional four-speed gearbox.

Der Opel Rekord P2 war ein Mittelklassewagen, den Opel 1960 als Nachfolger des Opel Rekord P1 vorstellte. Die Coupé-Version mit dem im Vergleich zur Limousine recht tief abgesenkten Dach wurde wegen seiner etwas unausgewogenen Proportionen spöttisch als „rasender Kofferraum“ bezeichnet. Zunächst baute Autenrieth die Limousine in ein Coupé um, ab August 1961 fertigte Opel die Coupé-Karosserie selbst.
