A housing development being constructed

Cosmos City is a new housing development being constructed just north of Johannesburg. It is a township built with three types of housing available. There are fully bonded, subsidised and RDP (Recontsruction and Development) options. The subsidy is calculated on a sliding scale depending on the home owners earnings. and the units go from R184 000 (45m2) to R R260 000 (70m2). The fully bonded are sold as per normal via Estate Agencies and the RDP are supplied by the Government for the poor.Subsidised houses under construction. 2007. Photo: © John Hogg / World Bank
