Artisanal Hands V - Gentle Touch [Artisanal Hands Project]

It's been a while since I posted anything for this project, but it hasn't been forgotten...
All the way back in June of last year my friend Gwen agreed to let me photograph her at her wheel for a photography project... At the time, I thought I had captured nothing. (An occupational hazard for photographers!) Yet, they continued to haunt me. Time and time again, I returned to the set and pondered them, trying and discarding dozens of edits.
Finally... in the wee hours of this morning, these emerged from the fog.
As with the previous photo, there's also the merging of her skin and her clay - the artist and the medium are one.
It was interesting watching her attach the medallion to the cup. The cup is moist and quite fragile, yet pressure has to be applied to shape and attach the medallion. (The medallion is stamped separately from the spun cup.)

The 'flaw' right above the stick is in the pottery, not a bad edit. :) :)
