Dear Mike, We've corresponded before about using some of your photos on our All About Birds website and elsewhere. Now I'm writing in the hopes we can use a photo for BirdScope, our print newsletter. We're running a short article about a new grant that will help us work to reestablish seabird populations on islands in Baja California. One of the target seabirds is the Brown Pelican, and you have a great photo that would be perfect to go with the piece. For our purposes, we may want to crop or extract the bird from the photo. Get hooked on new donkey crochet projects

International animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary is today asking its crafty supporters to turn their needles to a new herd of donkey-themed crochet projects to help them raise funds for their essential work worldwide.
The crochet donkey mobile phone socks, pocket tissue holders, keyrings and bag charms will join the ever-popular array of knitted donkey toys, hats and other goodies already kindly created and donated by supporters. The finished masterpieces – which being hand-crafted are all unique, just like the donkeys cared for by the charity – will be sold via the charity’s Visitors’ Centre and online shop www.donkeyworld.org.uk, as well as at a variety of events throughout the year.
Marian Gumbrell, The Donkey Sanctuary’s Community Fundraising Manager, says:
“Due to the overwhelming success of our knitted donkey patterns we wanted to make sure that that there were projects available for crochet enthusiasts as well. The new mobile phone socks, pocket tissue holders, donkey keyrings and bag charms will help to raise valuable funds for The Donkey Sanctuary’s work around the world, and we hope they will raise a smile or two as well.”

Today, international animal welfare charity The Donkey Sanctuary launches its new online donkey care game with the digital arm of Aardman, makers of the famous Wallace and Gromit films.
The 'Me and My Donkey' game, produced by Aardman Digital, will help increase awareness of the charity’s work, allowing players to care for, feed and nurture their own animated donkey online.
This fun, casual game aims to attract a younger audience to The Donkey Sanctuary website, raising awareness of donkeys’ needs, whilst increasing sponsorship for the real donkeys on whom the animated characters are based.
Marianne Steele, Head of Fundraising and Marketing at The Donkey Sanctuary, says, "We are thrilled to be launching Me and My Donkey which fits in brilliantly with our fun, loving and compassionate approach to caring for donkeys around the world.
“The whole idea is that we engage with a younger audience and players will be able to sponsor the real donkeys Barney, Bramble and Mopsy who are living here at the Sanctuary and become their most dedicated fans. They can even come and visit them or watch them on our webcam!”
