Some cool photo blog images:
Campus reflections
Image by Jim Nix / Nomadic Pursuits
This is a hidden little spot that I discovered, quite by accident, while walking around on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. I had been shooting there and just having a good time. After a bit I began to meander, which I like to do while holding a camera, and ended up in this spot, which was tucked in nicely among a few buildings.
I took this as an HDR, quite a while back, and had processed it with Photomatix. However, I was never sold on the result so it just sat in my library. Fast forward to now and Nik Software’s HDR Efex Pro has come along - and it’s great! I am sold! I really love the product, as well as the other ones that come in their Complete Collection. Anyways, I went back and processed this with HDR Efex Pro and it just did such a better job with the photo.
If you are interested, I wrote up a little review/tutorial on my blog about HDR Efex Pro, which you can read about here:

Westcave Preserve
Image by Jim Nix / Nomadic Pursuits
Westcave Preserve is an Austin city park that lies south and west of the city. It is a beautiful place. I had the good fortune to get invited by my buddy Pete Talke of Places2Explore to go on a photo tour there. It was a nice morning and we met there early to get a good start on some HDR photo work. We hiked down sort of into a canyon and then you come across the grotto. There is a ~40 foot tall waterfall that cascades over the cliff and into a beautiful pool of water. It is gorgeous and made more beautiful by the fact that you only drove a little while to get there. It reminds me of Oregon or Washington, sort of like a rainforest feel to it. There are ferns growing everywhere and it is so green. I had to take down the green color in the photo because it was overwhelming. It's really that green there! If you are ever in Austin, I recommend a visit!
