LOMO LC-A Stuck Frame Counter Fix
View all sizes of this picture to see it close up!
I bought my first LOMO LC-A from ebay today but found that the frame/film counter was stuck at 31 :(
There's a small piece of copper which is depressed when the back is closed so that when the back is opened again it resets the frame counter. Mine wasn't coming out far enough so I had to pull it out manually every time I loaded a film.
My friend Jonee ( www.flickr.com/photos/joneew/ ) told me I should be happy doing this...but me being me decided to take the thing apart desperately hoping I could fix it!
In short, after looking at the guide showing how to take the LC-A apart at www.flickr.com/groups/lomorepairs/ I figured out the problem!
Basically, as the photo shows, there is a small tensioning pin that is meant to sit behind the peg... mine had come out during the course of it 23 year long (to date!) life, so all it needed was to be repositioned. Job done!
My tip when taking and reassembling the LC-A is do not tighten the screws too tight, they aren't tight at all and don't need to be when the are first put in, if you tighten them too much you won't be able to get them out and will end up rounding off the screws! Also, take very careful note of which screws go where, there are lots of different shaped and sized screws!
